HCS 21st Century Classroom Committee

Welcome to the HCS 21st Century Classroom Committee
In order to add yourself to this site, please go to the upper right hand corner and follow the process to gain access to this Wiki page. You will need to click on the word "Join" and then follow the steps from there. This will give you edit rights so you can blog openly about the information you are researching. Blogging here will allow us to continue to move this committee along while providing everyone an opportunity to provide feedback on the research and information being provided by the group.

Also note that your 'stickey' comments are located on the pages along the left hand side where they apply. For example, under 'Shift Happens' I have placed those comments. And under TED Video, your stickey comments have been placed there as well. If you wish to add to any comments, click the 'Edit' button located on the upper right hand of the page and then you can add your comments. Special thanks to Sarah Fink for getting this Wiki set up!!! (Idea brought up by Kim Z. :))

Again thanks for your time and let's stay aggressive!
Below are some websites I thought you might find interesting on some of the aspects contained within a 21st century classroom.
This is an article which talks about how the state of Idaho is now mandating on-line classes for public schools.

We met today with two teaches from Clive, Iowa in discussing the advantages and disadvantages to having IPads at the elementary level. There was a lot of really good conversations and one thing stood out to me. When the teachers mentioned they essentially were given the IPads and told in a month they would be showing their colleagues and others how they were using them in the classroom, I thought WOW, that's not much time and very little PD to support it. But as they continued with their conversations, they mentioned they struggled a little bit and then folks responded and were using essentially a brand new 'tool' (IPad) in their classroom (on a limited basis it sounded like) in less than a month.
Our next meeting is at 7:30am in the board room with Dr. McLeod. Please send me your questions regarding the one topic you wish to serve on as we break off into sub-committees (based on your ideas above). Have a great Thanksgiving!
